Baseball Recap: Strayhorn Takes a Loss

Strayhorn lost against Myrtle back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Strayhorn Mustangs lost 12-1 to the Myrtle Hawks. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Strayhorn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Bateman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. What's more, Bateman posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

Strayhorn's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Myrtle, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Coming up, Strayhorn will look to defend their home field on Friday against Tupelo Christian Prep at 4:00 p.m. Strayhorn has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Myrtle, they will head out on the road to square off against Biggersville at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Myrtle is facing Biggersville at the right time seeing as Biggersville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
