Basketball Recap: Weslaco East Wildcats vs. Los Fresnos Falcons

Weslaco East unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 64-40 to the Los Fresnos Falcons on Tuesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Los Fresnos had a senior duo take command as Andrew Munoz went 7-for-14 en route to 23 points and Eric Salazar shot 43% from the field to rack up 14 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Munoz is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Xavier Solis was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Los Fresnos has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weslaco East will host Palmview at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Los Fresnos, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on San Benito at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
