Carthage is a perfect 3-0 against Auburn since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Comets are taking a road trip to square off against the Maroons at 6:30 p.m. Neither Carthage nor Auburn posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Carthage is headed into Thursday's matchup hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They lost to Whitesboro at home by a 28-12 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Warriors are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Auburn's offense. They lost 20-0 to East Syracuse-Minoa on Friday. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Maroons were not able to get on the board.

Auburn's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Carthage, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-2.

Carthage was able to grind out a solid win over Auburn in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, winning 28-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
