Basketball Recap: Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech Takes a Loss

Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech lost against Devon Prep back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech took a blow against the Devon Prep Tide, falling 77-46. While losing is never fun, Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Devon Prep is ranked fifth).

When it comes to explaining why Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech lost, don't look at Jarrell Little. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points. Thanks to that strong game, Little now owns an excellent 41% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Tylee Richardson, who posted four points along with six boards and three blocks.

Devon Prep had a senior duo take command as Reece Craft dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds and Shane Doyle dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 assists. Those 12 assists gave Doyle a new career-high. Mike Pergolis was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Devon Prep, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech will face off against Saucon Valley at 5:00 p.m. on March 7th. Murrell Dobbins Vo-Tech has given up an average of 62.3 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Devon Prep, they will look to defend their home court on March 7th against Bishop McDevitt at 7:00 p.m.
