Softball Recap: Perkins' Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Perkins barely beat Huron the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates blew past the Tigers 11-2 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Caden McClellan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avery Baker was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Allie Brunner, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Perkins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Perkins' win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Huron, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Perkins will take on Norwalk at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Huron will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' matchup: after the Pirates face off against Columbian, they'll take on Huron again at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
