Basketball Recap: Northwestern's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Central last Saturday, Northwestern came back down to earth. The Northwestern Bulls fell just short of the Ensworth Tigers by a score of 65-62 on Sunday.

Northwestern's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamiro Smith, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. Zacuras Dawson was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Northwestern's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Ensworth, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Northwestern will be playing in front of their home fans against Monsignor Pace at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Ensworth, they will venture away from home to face off against Pope John Paul II at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pope John Paul II will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Ensworth surely won't give up without a fight.
