Football Recap: Cherokee Christian Takes a Loss

Cherokee Christian was the 47-0 winner over Rock Springs Christian Academy when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Warriors fell 28-21 to the Eagles on Friday.

Colton Messer threw for 79 yards on ten of 18 attempts. Burke Harper was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards.

Liam Buice had an outrageously good game for Rock Springs Christian Academy as he rushed for 132 yards and one score on only nine carries. Those 132 rushing yards gave Buice a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam McGinnis Morgan, who rushed for 78 yards and three TDs.

Cherokee Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Rock Springs Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cherokee Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe Lanier Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Rock Springs Christian Academy will challenge rival Skipstone Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
