Basketball Recap: Oak Ridge Comes Up Short

If Oak Ridge was feeling good fresh off their 76-24 takedown of New Caney last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oak Ridge War Eagles were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 44-43 to the Conroe Tigers. The matchup was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but the War Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Oak Ridge lost, don't look at Synarea Reece. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. What's more, Reece also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Jordan Daigle was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Taylor Smith was the offensive standout of the game as she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Alisa Sneed, who posted five points in addition to 12 rebounds and five assists.

Oak Ridge's record is now 16-16. As for Conroe, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Grand Oaks the next time they take the court. Conroe will head out to face Grand Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Oak Ridge will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st.
