Preview: Johnson Jaguars vs. Shoemaker Wolves

The Johnson Jaguars and the Shoemaker Wolves will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Johnson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Shoemaker likes a good challenge.
Bowie typically has all the answers at home, but last Friday Johnson proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 75-68 win over the Bulldogs. Given Johnson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Bowie is ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Shoemaker had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They took down Chaparral 74-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Johnson's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. As for Shoemaker, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Johnson came out on top in a nail-biter against Shoemaker in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, sneaking past 67-65. Does Johnson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shoemaker turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
