Volleyball Recap: Academy of Our Lady of Peace Triumphs + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Academy of Our Lady of Peace had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Point Loma Pointers 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Pilots: when they faced off against the Pointers back in September, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Academy of Our Lady of Peace was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-12, 20-25, 25-19, 15-9.

Amanda Guzman went supernova, getting 25 digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted since October 8th.

Guzman wasn't the only good servers: Academy of Our Lady of Peace was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matches.

Academy of Our Lady of Peace's victory bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Point Loma, with the loss, they broke their five-match winning streak and moved their record to 18-12.

Coming up, Academy of Our Lady of Peace will challenge Carlsbad at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Pilots surely won't give up without a fight. Point Loma does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
