Volleyball Recap: Wellington Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Wellington and Cypress Bay squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Wellington had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lightning. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Lightning: they've now lost three in a row.

Wellington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-11, 25-21, 25-13.

Nicole Koch paced Wellington's offense, picking up ten kills. Koch got some help from Faith DiMaria and her 14 assists. DiMaria was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cypress Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julia Diaz, who had 20 digs. Diaz has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played. Erin Huang was another key player, getting 11 digs and eight aces.

Wellington's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Cypress Bay, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

Wellington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cypress Bay, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Coral Gables on the 25th.
