Basketball Recap: University Prep Academy Comes Up Short

University Prep Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 76-51 to the Summit Shasta Black Bears on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 851st, while the Black Bears are ranked 384th).

When it comes to explaining why University Prep Academy lost, don't look at Anthony Hamoud. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mussie Gebrehanna, who scored nine points.

University Prep Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Summit Shasta, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

University Prep Academy has already played their next match, a 68-60 loss against Basis Independent Silicon Valley on the 23rd. As for Summit Shasta, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-44 win against More on the 23rd.
