Softball Game Preview: Sandusky Blue Streaks vs. Mansfield Senior Tygers

Sandusky is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Mansfield Senior a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Sandusky Blue Streaks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mansfield Senior Tygers at 4:45 p.m. Mansfield Senior took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sandusky, who comes in off a win.

Sandusky will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Bellevue, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Blue Streaks came out on top against the Redmen by a score of 9-6 on Thursday.

Kaylee Summers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Savannah Palmer and Makayla Popke did most of the damage at the plate: Palmer went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Popke went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Popke a new career-high. Alidra Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Mansfield Senior's offense. They came up short against Crestline on Wednesday, falling 15-0.

Mansfield Senior's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Sandusky, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-6.
