On Thursday Taya Newton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The effort also marked the fewest walks (zero) Newton has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her seventh in a row with less than two hits. On the season, she has been strong no matter where she plays. On the mound, she has an ERA of 3.27 over 15 innings pitched. Meanwhile, at bat she has slashed 0.500/0.597/1.065 with 32 runs and 7 home runs, plus 16 stolen bases.

Coming up, Newton and Andalusia will take on Dale County in a tournament on Friday.
