St. Joseph gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the London Pirates a 9-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Flyers as they're now sitting on 15 straight dating back to last season.

Shayne Meismer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Grimsinger, who went a perfect3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. What's more, she also racked up three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Valery Villareal, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph will face off against Cypress Creek at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for London, they will take on Lamar Consolidated in a tournament on Thursday.
