Baseball Recap: Madison-Ridgeland Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Madison-Ridgeland Academy hadn't done well against Jackson Prep recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Madison-Ridgeland Academy never let Jackson Prep get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. This was a revenge game for Madison-Ridgeland Academy: when they faced off against Jackson Prep last Tuesday, they had to take a 8-5 defeat.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy got a great performance from Aiden Peets as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Peets also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Madison-Ridgeland Academy is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Garrett Gardener was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

With the victory, Madison-Ridgeland Academy broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-9. As for Jackson Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Madison-Ridgeland Academy beat Jackson Prep by a score of 4-1 on Friday.
