Volleyball Recap: Eastside Catholic Comes Up Short

If Eastside Catholic was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Seattle Academy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crusaders fell just short of the Lincoln Lynx by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lynx earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Eastside Catholic started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-12.

Their offense was headlined by Lauren Rettkowski and Elaine Fareti-Tuatoo, who picked up 15 kills apiece. They got some help from Hadley Delay and her 34 assists. Finally, Sadie Merritt kept Eastside Catholic's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Eastside Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-12 record this season.

Eastside Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against West Seattle on the 22nd. As for Lincoln, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Roosevelt on the 22nd.
