Basketball Game Preview: East Central Trojans vs. Whiteland Warriors

Two dominant guards in Peyton Hofer and Ethan Edwards are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The East Central Trojans will square off against the Whiteland Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

East Central will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Greensburg, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. East Central enjoyed a cozy 45-29 victory over Greensburg on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last eight times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Whiteland waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They breezed past the Hornets to the tune of 68-37. That 31 point margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

East Central better focus on containing Edwards and Kyle Edwards as the pair were huge in Whiteland's win. Ethan shot 46% from the field on his way to 16 points, while Kyle posted 13 points and six rebounds. Ethan's big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Gavin Stubbe was another key player, putting up 13 points and five boards.

Whiteland was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They are 8-3 when they've passed the ball that well.

Whiteland pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points over those games. As for East Central, their record now sits at 9-13.

East Central came up short against Whiteland in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 59-49. Can East Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
