Baseball Recap: Fletcher Wins Going Away Against Ringling

Fletcher owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They blew past the Ringling Blue Devils 9-0. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Elijah Cagle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Fletcher's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jacob Brown was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Fletcher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fletcher is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. Ringling's loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fletcher will venture away from home to face off against Big Pasture at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ringling, they will head out to take on Wayne at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Ringling's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wayne has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
