Baseball Recap: Nixon Takes a Loss

Nixon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rio Grande City Rattlers. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 12-3 to the Rattlers when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Orly Guzman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Ryan Gaona, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Nixon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Rio Grande City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Nixon will take on rival Cigarroa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rio Grande City is set to face off against their familiar foe Mission at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
