Meridian took a seven-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Squalicum, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Storm 3-2. The win was all the more spectacular given Meridian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Squalicum are ranked 44th).

The victory got Meridian back to even at 6-6-3. As for Squalicum, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Meridian is set to face off against their familiar foe Anacortes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Squalicum will challenge rival Sehome at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Squalicum are on a seven-game streak of home wins, Sehome a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
