Basketball Recap: Jassie Stiles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Perry Meridian over Whiteland

Perry Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-31 heartbreaker at the hands of the Whiteland Warriors. The Falcons were probably out for revenge after losing 47-42 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Perry Meridian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jassie Stiles, who posted eight points and five boards. That's the most rebounds Stiles has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Thomas, who had seven points and five boards.

Whiteland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sam Roadruck led the charge by putting up 11 points and three steals. Roadruck has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Dyer, who put up eight points and 11 rebounds.

Perry Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Whiteland, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-15.

Perry Meridian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 41-37 loss against Greenwood on the 31st. Whiteland has also already played their next match, a 49-30 defeat against Mooresville on the 31st.
