Baseball Game Preview: Butte Bulldogs vs. East Helena Vigilantes

The Butte Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the East Helena Vigilantes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, Butte didn't have quite enough to beat Beaverhead County and fell 3-2. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.

Butte got a good showing from Calvin Cunningham, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Cayde Stajcar made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, East Helena posted their closest victory since March 29, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Park 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vigilantes.

Killian Snarr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Kai Richey was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Xavier Nunn, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

East Helena hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Park struck out six times.

East Helena now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Butte, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Everything went Butte's way against East Helena in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Butte made off with a 19-4 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vigilantes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
