Baseball Recap: Point Loma Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Point Loma can now relate to. They fell just short of the La Jolla Country Day Torreys by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Pointers just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Point Loma got a good showing from Luis Lara, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lara has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Point Loma's loss dropped their record down to 15-12-1. As for La Jolla Country Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season.

Point Loma does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for La Jolla Country Day, they will square off against Cathedral Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Torreys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
