Baseball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Gets the Win

After losing to Denver Academy the last time they met, Arrupe Jesuit decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Generals came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 8-3 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Generals.

Adrian Rojas Ramirez made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Arrupe Jesuit's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 1-13 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Juan-Carlos Cadena was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Arrupe Jesuit is 2-1 when Cadena posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Auggie Blea, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Arrupe Jesuit's record now sits at 4-13. As for Denver Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arrupe Jesuit will square off against Middle Park at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Denver Academy, they will challenge Front Range Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.33 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
