Volleyball Recap: Sierra Vista Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Foothill

Sierra Vista faced Foothill in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions came up short against the Falcons, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mountain Lions have suffered since October 23, 2024.

While Sierra Vista had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 25-20.

Averie Gidge paced Sierra Vista's offense, picking up nine kills. Gidge got some help from Lyla Sneek and her 20 assists. Taryn Ah Mow controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Sierra Vista is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

After both having extra time off, Sierra Vista and Basic will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Foothill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Silverado on the 21st.
