Baseball Recap: Post Antelopes vs. Smyer Bobcats
Post extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 8-8-2. They lost 17-6 to the Smyer Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Tuesday.
As for Smyer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10. That looming 17-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.
For Smyer's part, Austin Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Martinez a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Colton Burris was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Smyer is 2-1 when Burris posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caleb Pearce, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
