Basketball Recap: Lincoln Prep Panthers vs. Homer Pelicans
The Lincoln Prep Panthers entered their tilt with the Homer Pelicans with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Lincoln Prep came out on top against the Pelicans by a score of 66-53 on Wednesday. Given Lincoln Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Pelicans are ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lincoln Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amarjae Young out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Stephen Burks, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Lincoln Prep has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Homer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
Lincoln Prep and the Warriors will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Frederick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Homer, they will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
