Basketball Recap: Heritage Leadership Academy Takes a Loss

Heritage Leadership Academy lost against Mount Zion Christian Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The contest between the Heritage Leadership Academy Fletchers and the Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors didn't end well, with the Heritage Leadership Academy Fletchers falling 71-57. While losing is never fun, the Fletchers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while the Mighty Warriors are ranked 137th).

Despite the defeat, Heritage Leadership Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jonathan Adams went 14 for 24 en route to 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adams has scored all season. Jacob Peterson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Heritage Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Mount Zion Christian Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10.

Heritage Leadership Academy has already played their next game (against Bethesda Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mount Zion Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Zion Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 contests -- so hopefully Grace Christian likes a good challenge.
