Basketball Recap: Goshen Takes a Loss

Goshen won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They were beaten by the South Bend St. Joseph Huskies 85-44. While losing is never fun, the RedHawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Huskies are ranked second).

Goshen's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damarian Axell, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Levi Sawatzky, who earned 11 points.

Goshen's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for South Bend St. Joseph, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goshen will venture away from home to square off against Northridge at 7:45 p.m. on December 21st. South Bend St. Joseph will take on Norrix in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on December 21st.
