Football Recap: Trinity Comes Up Short

Trinity extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were outmatched by the Kirtland Hornets and fell 49-0. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 56-0 to the Hornets when the teams met back in September of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Kirtland, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.8 points on average this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to John Silvestro and Ty Bledsoe. Silvestro rushed for 79 yards and three touchdowns while Bledsoe rushed for 88 yards and a pair of scores. Bledsoe is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Laverde, who threw for 157 yards and one TD on only ten passes.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity will head out to challenge Fairview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Kirtland, they will venture away from home to square off against Wickliffe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hornets 11.8, the Blue Devils 5.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
