Softball Recap: Salina Central Beats Junction City for Their Third Straight Win

Salina Central put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Junction City Bluejays as they made off with a 16-1 victory. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 13-10 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Valerie VanZant made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. VanZant was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Harper Turpin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Charlotte Gordon was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Salina Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one strikeouts batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Salina Central's win bumped their record up to 3-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mustangs beat Junction City by a score of 16-1 later that day.
