The Blue Dragons narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lancers 8-6. The eight-point effort marked the Blue Dragons' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

One reason for the win was Middletown's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Victor Bonet was especially locked on to Bristol Eastern's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Lancers' side was Kairese Monroe, who made 17 total tackles and defended one pass.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 49 points the game before, Edwin O. Smith was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were dealt a 39-7 defeat at the hands of Wethersfield. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Middletown's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Edwin O. Smith, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Thursday's game might be decided in the trenches. Middletown has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 178.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Edwin O. Smith, though, as they've been averaging only 54.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
