Basketball Recap: James Monroe's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

James Monroe came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bluefield Beavers, posting a 60-20 victory. That looming 60-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mavericks yet this season.

James Monroe was led to victory by Mya Dunlap and Maggie Boroski. Dunlap went 7 for 12 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds, while Boroski went 6 of 13 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Boroski has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Terry, who posted eight points.

James Monroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

James Monroe's record is now 7-2. As for Bluefield, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
