Baseball Recap: Devine Takes a Loss

If Devine was feeling good fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Pearsall last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warhorses fell just short of the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Warhorses in their meetings with the Tigers/Jaguars: they've now lost six in a row.

Henry Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Devine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Costilla, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Devine's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11-1. As for Floresville, their record is now 13-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Devine will challenge rival Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Floresville is set to square off against their familiar foe Somerset at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
