Baseball Game Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Shafter Generals

Chavez has gone 8-2 against Shafter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Chavez Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Shafter Generals at 4:00 p.m.

Chavez proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Shafter 6-4.

Diego Villarreal looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Benji Perez was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Daniel Carrillo, who scored a run and stole a base.

Chavez is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Shafter's loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chavez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Shafter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
