Football Game Preview: Cardinal O'Hara Lions vs. Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Friars/Pandas

Cardinal O'Hara is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Friars/Pandas at 4:00 p.m. Cardinal O'Hara will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Last Friday, Cardinal O'Hara made easy work of Smyrna and carried off a 34-14 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 69th in Pennsylvania, while the Eagles are ranked sixth in Delaware).

Amahj Gowans continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 202 yards and three scores. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 192 rushing yards. Braylon Harris was another key player, rushing for 67 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cardinal O'Hara was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Cardinal O'Hara's defense stepped up as well, laying out Drew Marks. 7.5 times. Hakim Allah was especially locked on to Smyrna's QB and sacked him twice. Max Brown was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Meanwhile, Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 28-24 to Haverford School. The loss was the Friars/Pandas' first of the season.
