Basketball Recap: Apollo Takes a Loss

Apollo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Daviess County Panthers 71-13. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-9.

Aubrey Johnson was Apollo's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Mattingly Taylor held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Daviess County was led to victory by Kennedy Lane and Lily Hoagland. Lane went 10 for 14 on her way to 23 points and four steals, while Hoagland went 8 of 11 en route to 20 points. That's the most points Hoagland has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Beehn, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Apollo's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Daviess County, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9.

Apollo has already played their next match, a 47-22 victory against Warren Central on the 25th. Daviess County has also already played their next contest (against Edmonson County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
