Basketball Recap: Elwood Takes a Loss

Elwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers, falling 62-37. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Elwood still got an impressive performance from Cam Gallegos, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 22 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Gallegos a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brice Shuler, who posted nine points.

Elwood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Alexandria-Monroe, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-10.

Elwood will head out to take on GEO Next Generation at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alexandria-Monroe, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers take on the Elwood Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
