Softball Recap: Monterey Trail Takes a Loss

Monterey Trail lost to Elk Grove on April 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mustangs came up short against the Thundering Herd, falling 22-3. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aliyah Ewing was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Monterey Trail's loss dropped their record down to 5-14-1. As for Elk Grove, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Monterey Trail will head out to challenge Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Elk Grove, they will venture away from home to square off against Laguna Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thundering Herd's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
