Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Basalt

Basalt extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-3. They lost 15-0 to the Rifle Bears. The Longhorns were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting on October 8, 2024.

Even though they lost, Basalt prevented the big hits and finished the game with no home runs against. They have not posted that many home runs against since the 14th, when they also allowed zero.

As for Rifle, they are now 4-2, having gone 1-2 since their 4-game winning streak ended. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.

For Rifle's part, Madison Hartnett and Rachael Rubin did most of the damage at the plate: Hartnett went 2-for-3 while logging 4 RBI, 1 stolen base, and 1 run, while Rubin went a perfect 2-for-2 while posting 2 stolen bases, 2 runs, and 1 RBI. The game marked Rubin's first with multiple runs this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basalt will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Durango at 11:00 a.m. As for Rifle, they will venture away from home to challenge Palisade at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
