Softball Game Preview: L.C. Bird Skyhawks vs. Hermitage Panthers

The L.C. Bird Skyhawks will head out to square off against the Hermitage Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. L.C. Bird has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

L.C. Bird is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against James River Midlothian, falling 21-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

L.C. Bird saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Klemm, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Paula Riggan was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Hermitage had taken Maggie Walker down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end two weeks ago. The Panthers lost 18-9 to Maggie Walker. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hermitage's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for L.C. Bird, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.

L.C. Bird might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Hermitage when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Skyhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
