Basketball Recap: Summit Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Summit Academy's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the Providence Hall Patriots 72-51. The win was some much needed relief for the Bears as it spelled an end to their 14-game losing streak.

Providence Hall's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dallas Loutensock, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Austin Garrett, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Summit Academy's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-18. As for Providence Hall, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Summit Academy will venture away from home to square off against Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence Hall, they will host American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (American Heritage has three straight wins, Providence Hall has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
