Baseball Game Preview: Sts. Peter & Paul Sabres vs. Holly Grove Christian Eagles

The Sts. Peter & Paul Sabres will venture away from home to square off against the Holly Grove Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sts. Peter & Paul comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Sts. Peter & Paul came up short against Key on Friday, falling 18-1.

Holly Grove Christian hadn't beaten Chincoteague on the road since April 21, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Ponies by a score of 11-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Nathan Hamilton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Holly Grove Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Bradley Chatham was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Alex Forbush was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

The win got Holly Grove Christian back to even at 4-4. As for Sts. Peter & Paul, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Sts. Peter & Paul came out on top in a nail-biter against Holly Grove Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2023, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Sabres repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
