Softball Recap: Diamond Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Liberal typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Diamond proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Taelyn Reeder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Kabrie Parmley was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Diamond, bringing their record up to 22-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Liberal, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Looking ahead, Diamond will square off against Frontenac at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberal, they will take on Sarcoxie at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for the Bulldogs and five for the Bears.
