Basketball Recap: New Life Camp's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

New Life Camp had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 61-39 margin over the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Chancellors are ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Life Camp's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caroline Brown, who went 9 for 13 on her way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Kranz, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

St. Thomas More Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Adella Dehring, who posted four points in addition to five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was LIlian Marquardt, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

New Life Camp pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for St. Thomas More Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

New Life Camp will venture away from home to challenge St. David's at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. St. David's has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 37-24 defeat against Thales Academy Apex on the 12th.
