Softball Recap: Hume-Fogg Comes Up Short

After flying high against Maplewood last Tuesday, Hume-Fogg came back down to earth. The Blue Knights came up short against the Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals on Tuesday, falling 16-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Knights of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Zyla Haynie made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Jayla Liddell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Hume-Fogg now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hume-Fogg will square off against Pearl-Cohn at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Knights are facing the Firebirds at the right time seeing as the Firebirds are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, they will be playing at home against St. Cecilia Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Royals will need to watch out since the Scarabs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
