Eagles coming off impressive 5-0 spring season.

The 2021 high school football season in Washington kicks off next week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Coming off an impressive 5-0 run during the spring, Graham-Kapowsin owns the top spot in our preseason rankings.

A perennial contender under head coach Eric Kurle, this could be the year the Eagles break through to capture their first state title in school history. Graham-Kapowsin rattled off impressive wins over league rivals Puyallup and Sumner during an abbreviated spring 2021 season.

Washington pledge Vega Ioane (6-4, 320, OL), quarterback Joshua Wood, junior running back Jalen Davenport and wide receiver Julian Mason should keep G-K's offense humming. Defensively, 10 of the team's top 14 tacklers from a year ago are back, including senior safety Cameron Sonnenfeld.

With no state champions crowned in 2020, defending 11-man champs from 2019 include Camas in 4A, Eastside Catholic (3A), Tumwater (2A), Royal (1A) and Onalaska (2B).
