Preview: Enloe Eagles vs. Athens Drive Jaguars
The Enloe Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Athens Drive Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Enloe's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 48-24 loss at the hands of Sanderson.
Despite their defeat, Enloe saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chase White, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Moore, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Athens Drive fell victim to Leesville Road's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Pride 64-0. While losing is never fun, Athens Drive can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Leesville Road is ranked 38th).
Enloe now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Athens Drive, they now also have a losing record at 4-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Enloe has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 186.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Athens Drive struggles in that department as they've been even better at 222.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Enloe came up short against Athens Drive in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 32-28. Can Enloe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
