Football Game Preview: Stillwater Warriors vs. Greenwich Witches

The Stillwater Warriors will take on the Greenwich Witches at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Stillwater sitting on three straight wins and Greenwich on five.

On Friday, Stillwater strolled past Canajoharie/Fort Plain with points to spare, taking the game 21-7.

Stillwater's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Vacula, who rushed for 143 yards and one score on only 15 carries. Aidan Callanan was another key player, rushing for 87 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stillwater was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 247 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenwich). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Rensselaer/Loudonville Christian 71-6. Given the Witches' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Rams are ranked 550th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenwich's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Stillwater, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
